Things are looking a little different around here! I decided it was silly to keep two websites, so now JennyPerinovic.com also points to this space, and you can find out almost everything you want to know about me here at bookish.
Back when I started this blog in 2006 (under a different name) and even before that, to my days at LiveJournal (2001-2006), the internet was a totally different place. Blogging wasn’t the industry it is today, with everyone trying to fit in their own niches. Personal blogs–at least in the circles of the web I frequented–were common. Blogs about nothing and everything. Over the last few years, there’s been this monumental shift away from blogs being about you to blogs being about something. And that’s nice and great and I love reading blogs like that. And for a while, I tried to make this blog like that. But. That’s not me. That’s not this space. So I might blog about writing and reading and my latest design project AND silly conversations I have with my husband. I don’t need to keep things separate.
So why the change? I’ve been taking both my writing and my freelance design business very seriously lately and needed to reflect that on my online space. While I considered creating (and maintaining) two separate sites, I ultimately nixed that idea. It seemed exhausting and to be honest, I am both people. I am both things, a writer and a designer. Why couldn’t my website highlight both of those parts of me? So I decided to create something both pretty and functional; this gave me an excuse to play around with the Genesis framework and I’m so pleased with the results.
What you can expect from me in the future? At the moment, I’m going to be honest and say that I’m probably going to be blogging here sporadically. My weekly posts over at The Great Noveling Adventure, on top of writing work, freelance work, AND the dayjob keep me really busy. But I’ve had bookish.nu as my blog since my sophomore year of college, and it’s going to stay mine. I do have some great posts planned for the future–so stay tuned!
So take a look around. Explore. And as always, let me know if anything is looking a little wonky.
