So, Eric and I finally got our Christmas tree yesterday and decorated it. I had argued very strongly for a real one (because that’s just what my family does, we have real trees) and he had argued equally for a fake one (which is what HIS family has every year). In the end, Eric ended up winning – not because I think that fake trees are better, but because not only are we going to be gone for a few days over Christmas, we don’t have a stand, or anyway to trim the stump, or anywhere to put it when Christmas is over (our building just has a trash chute). So, I caved, and we ended up going to Target, where there were pretty slim pickings on the tree front.
We ended up with a very pretty (and realistic looking!) 7.5′ tree, which I am SO happy with. We only got one box of ornaments, the tree topper, a strand of green beads, and some ribbon, so I was worried that the tree might look bare, but actually, I think it looks quite lovely all lit up:
Here’s a picture of it in daylight, so you can see the actual colors (it’s from my phone, so the quality sucks, sorry):
I LOVE all of the colors and I’m so so proud of how it looks. And it will look awesome with our new couch which is coming on FRIDAY, just in time for our Christmas party!
YES. YES. WE FINALLY WILL HAVE A COUCH. It’s green and soft and beautiful and the cushions are reversible, so it still can have the tufted-with buttons look that I love.
I am SO excited. I don’t think anyone except Eric and maybe my mom can understand the level of excited that I’m feeling right now. Audra is taking our futon mattress, and we can finally say goodbye to our poor broken little futon frame and stop worrying that the futon will collapse every time we sit down. I can’t wait!
